About Alpaca

Alpaca is a new way of sharing journey-based content. Because we believe that authentic, actionable travel inspiration can go much deeper than a hashtag. By overlaying rich stories onto beautiful interactive maps, we don’t just feed the FOMO, we help lead people to better experiences.

Alpaca might only be 5 years old, but in that time we have had the opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading travel bodies, destinations, publishers and brands to help them turn their content into an engaging experience. Imagine clients such as; Destination NSW, Australian Traveller Magazine, Tourism WA, Visit Gippsland, Spirit of Tasmania, We Are Explorers and many more…

And something that makes us really proud, is that our product is consumed by millions of users world-wide.

Alpaca is a small but mighty team of 6 – we are developers, content creators, sales and marketing – that have experience spanning industries, and have travelled to over 60 countries. We bond over our love of coffee, pizza, travel, toasties and chilli sauce.

In this new Covid era, you will find the team ‘heads down’ working from homes across all parts of Victoria, coming together at times to share food or explore this great state of ours.

Product Designer

What we’re looking for

As our Product Designer, you will champion the design and user experience of the Alpaca platform for our clients, third party developers, and end users. This role is an opportunity to deep dive into the world of an established start-up, to help shape the overall product vision and service experience.

We are looking for a capable designer that can provide a mix of aspirational and functional design across our service, the platform and the interactive products we produce.

Central to this role will be;

  •   Making strategic design and UX decisions on new functionality to enhance end user experiences.
  •   Redesigning client on-boarding for a streamlined self-service outcome.
  •   Encouraging product usage through inspirational design examples
  •   Supporting marketing through product prototype designs.
  •   Crafting the on-boarding experience for third party developers

  

Looking into a crystal ball…

  • You have experience in UI Design for product and marketing – a passion for using beautiful design to create compelling connections with users or an audience.
  • You understand the complexities of stakeholder engagement
  • You’re a pro at interactive wireframing/prototyping
  • You have the ability to communicate ideas and design decisions effectively
  • It is clear that you have a keen eye for detail
  • We can see that you have an unquenchable willingness to learn, to constantly think innovatively and push the status quo.
  • You’re a creative problem solver and sharp thinker – able to turn complex challenges into simple engaging customer experience.
  • Ability to work autonomously and also in collaboration with a team

Candidates should be able to demonstrate their skills; stakeholder engagement, prototyping, and UI/Interactive design (across devices mobile/desktop and browser/app environments) via their folio or previous work examples.

  • You have a genuine curiosity about travel, and are well travelled yourself – you would describe yourself as a cultured global citizen.
  • You are a cartophile at heart – we know as a child you read the atlas for fun!

 

The finer details

  •   The position is remotely based with occasional face-to-face team catch ups in Melbourne.
  •   Victorian-based is preferable, but not essential
  •   Full-time hours (can be flexible with days/hours worked)

Digital Producer

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced Digital Producer to manage client projects and accounts.

This role will be part project management and part client account services. You will take the lead on client projects from brief through to delivery, while also looking for ways to surprise and delight our clients to foster long term relationships.

You’ll be working closely with our team of talented developers, designers and marketing, to execute high quality projects, and maintain strong client relationships.

 

The many hats you will be wearing (your responsibilities)

  • Strategy – understand our clients’ needs, challenges and opportunities, to help them achieve great things using Alpaca
  • Communication – you’ll be keeping clients up-to-date with progress, and checking in on them regularly to see if we can help them in any way.
  • Project management – manage the successful delivery of client projects; from post-sale briefing, to managing internal resources, timelines, QA, delivery and client training.
  • Account management – establish and maintain positive long term relationships with clients, while also encouraging continual use of the platform.
  • Client services – ensuring we always deliver great experiences for our clients, and looking for opportunities to improve client satisfaction at every touchpoint..
  • Stakeholder management – working with internal and external stakeholders to keep things running smoothly.
  • Education – establish resources to support and better educate users of the Alpaca platform
  • Insights – interpret data and analytics for optimisations and opportunities
  • Content services – provide content related services (such as copywriting or content population where scoped), or manage our external contractors where relevant.
  • Efficiencies – identify and action opportunities to streamline implementation for improved client outcomes and organisational efficiency.

 

 

Looking into a crystal ball…

  • At least 3 years experience in a similar role
  • Digital agency experience is a highly valued
  • You’re a high-impact worker who focuses on efficiency, organisation and time management with no issues meeting deadlines or balancing multiple priorities.
  • You will be proactive – with confidence taking ownership of your work and the results it drives
  • You demonstrate a high attention to detail
  • Show initiative – if there’s something you don’t know, you will be a creative problem solver. Mistakes are ok if there has been a willingness to come up with a solution.
  • You have brilliant written and verbal communication skills
  • You will put yourself in our clients shoes to understand their pressures, their goals, and use your understanding to make sure that we are providing value.
  • You have a service mindset and a deep understanding of digital services delivery and how to extract value in a services-based business.
  • You have a willingness to learn and are curious about the work you are doing. You ask why. You don’t just do something because it’s always been done that way. You dive deep so that you understand the thinking and strategy behind what you’re doing.

  • Experience in digital marketing & strategy 
  • Experience delivering client websites or digital projects
  • Copywriting skills
  • Knowledge of UX/UI, SEO, digital marketing, analytics and optimisation
  • You have a genuine curiosity about travel, and are well travelled yourself.
